What age is The Carrot Coin Mystery for?
It's designed for children aged 3 and up, with short rhyming verses that little ones can follow. Big kids enjoy it too, and it's a gentle way to start money conversations with any child who's still learning the basics.
What will my child learn?
Harvey finds a shiny coin, and the bunnies discover what money is, that Mama and Dada earn it by working, and that they can earn coins too by helping around the burrow. It introduces the three things you can do with money: save, spend and share. As book one, it's the best place to start the series.
Who wrote the books?
Australian financial planners (and dads) Victor Idoko, CFA, CFP®, and Lionel O'Mally. After years of giving money advice to adults, they realised no one was teaching it to little kids, so they wrote the books themselves. The bunnies, Liliana, Harvey and Connor, were inspired by Lionel's own children.
Is there anything to help me as a parent?
Yes. The book ends with a Lil' Money Lessons page for grown-ups: what your child is learning, questions to ask after reading, and three easy activities using things you already have at home, like a Save, Spend and Share jar system, simple chores to earn coins, and letting your child pay for a small item with real coins.
